Who we are

Golf Scoring UK is an iOS app and supporting website at golfscores.warks.it, operated by the developer of this service (contact: [email protected]).

What the app stores on your device

Round scores, player names and handicaps for a round, course scorecards you have used, and simple preferences (for example auto-advance and speech pause) are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device storage (SwiftData / UserDefaults). We do not require an account to score a round.

Location (optional)

If you use Near me, the app requests your device location (When In Use) to find golf clubs nearby. Location is sent to our server only for that request and is not used to track you across sessions or for advertising. You can refuse location access and still search clubs by name.

What this website does

When the app looks up UK clubs, tees, or scorecards, it requests data from our server at golfscores.warks.it. That server fetches course data from a third-party UK golf course data provider (via RapidAPI) and returns a normalised response to the app. The RapidAPI key stays on the server; it is not embedded in the app.

Course-lookup requests may include search text, approximate location (if you use Near me), and technical details such as IP address and user agent in normal web server logs. We use these only to operate and secure the service, not to build advertising profiles.

Usage counts (not linked to you)

The app may send a small, anonymous count to this server when you start or finish a round (including the scoring format), search for a club by name, or use Near me. The JSON body contains only an event name and, for rounds, the format. It does not include a device identifier, advertising ID, player names, scores, or club names.

We store a running total per day (UTC), event, and format — not a log of individual requests. Like any HTTPS request, hosting logs may still record an IP address and user agent for security. We do not attach that IP to the usage row, do not use it to identify you, and do not use these counts for advertising or tracking.

What we do not do (today)

• We do not sync your rounds or scores to our server
• We do not sell your personal data
• We do not use your golf scores for advertising
• There is no user login or cloud account for scoring yet

Third parties

Club, tee and scorecard information is obtained from a third-party UK golf course data provider (UK Golf API, via RapidAPI). We do not create or maintain that database. Only the provider can correct wrong course data — please use their contribute form: ukgolfapi.uk/contribute. Their processing is governed by their own terms and privacy policy. Hosting and CDN providers that serve this website may process connection logs as part of delivering the site.

Your choices

You can delete the app (and its local data) at any time from your device. You can refuse location permission; nearby club search will not work without it, but you can still search clubs by name.

Changes

If how we handle data changes (for example cloud sync of rounds), we will update this page and the date above.
